Breaking Away (titulada Los muchachos del verano en Hispanoamérica y El relevo en España) es una película comedia-dramática estadounidense, producida y dirigida por Peter Yates y escrita por Steve Tesich. Sigue un grupo de cuatro adolescentes en Bloomington, Indiana, que acaban de graduarse de la escuela. Está protagonizada por Dennis Christopher, Dennis Quaid, Daniel Stern, Jackie Earle Haley, Barbara Barrie, Paul Dooley y Robyn Douglass. En 1979, El relevo ganó un Premio Oscar por Mejor Guion Original para Tesich, y recibió otras cuatro nominaciones en otras categorías, entre las que se incluyen el Premio Oscar Mejor Película. También ganó un Globo de Oro por la mejor película (Comedia o Musical) y recibió nominaciones en otras tres categorías de los Globos de Oro. Don't Say a Word is a 2001 Australian-American psychological thriller film starring Michael Douglas, Brittany Murphy and Sean Bean based on the novel Don't Say a Word by Andrew Klavan. It was directed by Gary Fleder and written by Anthony Peckham and Patrick Smith Kelly. In 1991, a gang of thieves steal a rare $10-million gem, but, in the process, two of the gang double-cross their leader, Patrick Koster (Sean Bean) and take off with the precious stone. Ten years later, on the day before Thanksgiving, prominent private practice Manhattan child psychiatrist, Dr. Nathan R. Conrad (Michael Douglas), is invited by his friend and former colleague, Dr. Louis Sachs (Oliver Platt), to examine a disturbed young lady named Elisabeth Burrows (Brittany Murphy) at the state sanatorium. Having been released from prison on November 4, Patrick and the remaining gang members break into an apartment which overlooks Nathan's apartment, where he lives with his wife Aggie (Famke Janssen) and daughter Jessie (Skye McCole Bartusiak). That evening, Patrick kidnaps Jessie as a means of forcing Nathan to acquire a six-digit number from Elisabeth's memory. As Nathan visits Elisabeth, she is reluctant at first, but he gains her trust later—especially when he reveals that Jessie has been kidnapped and will be killed if he does not get the number they want. Sachs admits to Nathan that the gang who kidnapped Jessie also kidnapped his girlfriend to force him to acquire the number from Elisabeth. Sachs is then visited by Detective Sandra Cassidy (Jennifer Esposito) who reveals to him that his girlfriend has been found dead. Meanwhile, Aggie hears Jessie's voice and realizes the kidnappers reside in the apartment nearby. Schindler's List is a 1993 American historical period drama film directed and co-produced by Steven Spielberg and written by Steven Zaillian. It is based on the novel Schindler's Ark by Australian novelist Thomas Keneally. The film follows Oskar Schindler, a Sudeten German businessman, who saved the lives of more than a thousand mostly Polish-Jewish refugees from the Holocaust by employing them in his factories during World War II. It stars Liam Neeson as Schindler, Ralph Fiennes as SS officer Amon Göth, and Ben Kingsley as Schindler's Jewish accountant Itzhak Stern. Ideas for a film about the Schindlerjuden (Schindler Jews) were proposed as early as 1963. Poldek Pfefferberg, one of the Schindlerjuden, made it his life's mission to tell the story of Schindler. Spielberg became interested in the story when executive Sidney Sheinberg sent him a book review of Schindler's Ark. Universal Pictures bought the rights to the novel, but Spielberg, unsure if he was ready to make a film about the Holocaust, tried to pass the project to several other directors before finally deciding to direct the film himself. In Kraków during World War II, the Germans have forced local Polish Jews into the overcrowded Kraków Ghetto. Oskar Schindler, an ethnic German, arrives in the city hoping to make his fortune. A member of the Nazi Party, Schindler lavishes bribes on Wehrmacht (German armed forces) and SS officials and acquires a factory to produce enamelware. To help him run the business, Schindler enlists the aid of Itzhak Stern, a local Jewish official who has contacts with black marketeers and the Jewish business community. SS-Untersturmführer (second lieutenant) Amon Göth arrives in Kraków to oversee construction of Płaszów concentration camp. When the camp is completed, he orders the ghetto liquidated. Many people are shot and killed in the process of emptying the ghetto. Schindler witnesses the massacre and is profoundly affected. He particularly notices a young girl in a red coat as she hides from the Nazis, and later sees her body among a wagonload of corpses. The Last Seduction is a 1994 neo-noir erotic thriller film directed by John Dahl, and features Linda Fiorentino, Peter Berg, and Bill Pullman.[1] The film was produced by ITC Entertainment and distributed by October Films. Fiorentino's performance generated talk of an Oscar nomination, but she was ineligible because the film was shown on HBO before it was released to theatres. October Films and ITC Entertainment sued the Academy, but were unable to make Fiorentino eligible for a nomination. Bridget Gregory works as a telemarketing manager in New York City. Her husband, Clay, is training to be a doctor and is heavily in debt to a loan shark, so, he arranges to sell stolen pharmaceutical cocaine to two drug dealers. The transaction becomes tense when the buyers pull a gun, but to Clay's surprise, they eventually pay him $700,000. Clay is left shaken, and on his return home he slaps Bridget, after she insults him. She then steals the cash from him, and flees their apartment while he is in the shower. On her way to Chicago she stops in Beston, a small town near Buffalo. There she meets Mike Swale, a local man back from a whirlwind marriage in Buffalo, that he refuses to talk about. He tries to pick Bridget up, and she proceeds to use him for mere sexual gratification during her stay in town. Adept at word games and mirror writing, and with an imminent return to her hometown in mind, Bridget changes her name to Wendy Kroy, and gets a job at the insurance company, where coincidentally, Mike works. Picnic at Hanging Rock is an Australian historical fiction novel by Joan Lindsay. Set in 1900, its plot focuses on a group of female students at an Australian girls' boarding school who inexplicably vanish at Hanging Rock while on a Valentine's Day picnic. It also explores the outlying effects the disappearances have on the school and local community. The novel was first published in 1967 in Australia by Cheshire Publishing and was reprinted by Penguin in 1975. It is widely considered by critics to be one of the best Australian novels. Though the events depicted in the novel are entirely fictional, it is framed as though it is a true story, corroborated by ambiguous pseudohistorical references. Its irresolute conclusion has sparked significant public, critical, and scholarly analysis, and the narrative has become a part of Australia's national folklore as a result. Lindsay claimed to have written the novel over two weeks at her home Mulberry Hill in Baxter, on Victoria's Mornington Peninsula, after having successive dreams of the narrated events. An excised final chapter of the novel was published posthumously as a standalone book in 1987, titled The Secret of Hanging Rock, and also included critical commentary and interpretive theories on the novel. Another book, titled The Murders at Hanging Rock, was published in 1980, proposing varying interpretations. The novel has been adapted across numerous media, most famously in the 1975 critically acclaimed film of the same name by director Peter Weir. Patch Adams es una película de 1998 dirigida por Tom Shadyac. Octubre  es una película soviética muda de 1928 dirigida por Serguéi Eisenstein en la que se narra el comienzo de la revolución soviética en Petrogrado. Originalmente lanzado como "Octubre" en la Unión Soviética, la película fue re-editada y lanzada en otros países como Diez días que transformaron el mundo, nombrado después del libro de John Reed sobre la revolución. “Octubre” muestra a Rusia después de la revolución de febrero. En esta película, Eisenstein contará la historia de los acontecimientos que llevaron a la revolución bolchevique de octubre de 1917. La película muestra la caída del gobierno Zarista, retratada de forma simbólica en la que se derriban estatuas. Este acontecimiento trajo una situación inestable de hambre y guerra durante el gobierno provisional. Esto hizo que la población, aún no conformada con la situación social, realice más manifestaciones exigiendo cambios. Lenin llega en abril, apelando a reacciones más violentas, haciendo que el gobierno bloquee el paso de los trabajadores al centro de Petrogrado y ordene su arresto. Esta escena es dramatizada y merece un destaque por su representación: En un montaje fantástico, los puentes se levantan con los cuerpos de los bolcheviques extendidos sobre la plataforma mientras los burgueses tiran copias de los periódicos bolcheviques en el río. En octubre, Lenin desobedece al gobierno y comanda la invasión al palacio, en la que el gobierno tendrá un intento fallido de proteger el palacio colocando a varios militares a su favor. La película, basada en una novela de David Saperstein, ganó dos premios de la Academia. La secuela de 1988 Cocoon: el regreso está interpretada de nuevo por casi todo el reparto original. La historia narra el encuentro casual entre un grupo de jubilados y unos extraños capullos extraterrestres sumergidos en la piscina de la casa vecina a la residencia donde vive el grupo. Los sorprendentes efectos revitalizantes que produce el agua en los jubilados que se han bañado en esa piscina despiertan la curiosidad del resto.
