Heaven & Earth is a 1993 American biographical war drama film written and directed by Oliver Stone, and starring Tommy Lee Jones, Haing S. Ngor, Joan Chen, and Hiep Thi Le. It is the third and final film in Stone's Vietnam War trilogy, which also includes Platoon (1986) and Born on the Fourth of July (1989). Le Ly is a girl growing up in a Vietnamese village. Her life changes when the communist insurgents show up in the village to first fight the forces of France and then the United States. During the American involvement, Le Ly is captured and tortured by South Vietnamese government troops, and later raped by the Viet Cong because they suspect that she is a traitor. After the rape, her relationship with her village is destroyed, and she and her family are forced to move. Her family moves to Saigon and she is employed by a family there. The master of the household misleads her into believing that he genuinely cares for her, and she falls for him and gets pregnant by him. The master's wife becomes enraged and Le Ly's whole family is forced to move back to their former province. There she meets Steve Butler, a Gunnery Sergeant in the United States Marine Corps. When she first meets him she is not interested in a boyfriend or marriage, having been through so much suffering. In San Francisco in 1941, private investigators Sam Spade (Humphrey Bogart) and Miles Archer (Jerome Cowan) meet prospective client Ruth Wonderly (Mary Astor). She claims to be looking for her missing sister, who is involved with a man named Floyd Thursby. Archer agrees to follow her that night and help get her sister back. Spade is awakened by a phone call early in the morning and the police inform him that Archer has been killed. He meets his friend, Police Detective Tom Polhaus (Ward Bond), at the murder scene and then tries calling his client at her hotel, but she has checked out. Back at his apartment, he is grilled by Polhaus and Lieutenant Dundy (Barton MacLane), who tell him that Thursby was also murdered the same evening. Dundy suggests that Spade had the opportunity and motive to kill Thursby, who likely killed Archer. Archer's widow Iva (Gladys George) later visits him in his office, believing that Spade shot his partner so he could have her. Later that morning, Spade meets his client, now calling herself Brigid O'Shaughnessy. She explains that Thursby was her partner and probably killed Archer, but claims to have no idea who killed Thursby. Así se sustituyen espadas por pistolas, y los hombres de las familias enfrentadas, los Capuleto y los Montesco son importantes hombres de negocios. Wall Street es una película de 1987 dirigida por Oliver Stone y protagonizada por Michael Douglas y Charlie Sheen. La película tiene una secuela: Wall Street 2: El dinero nunca duerme (2010). Bud Fox (Charlie Sheen) es un joven broker que intenta abrirse camino en Wall Street. Durante el día trabaja en Jackson Steinem, y en sus ratos libres intenta conocer a uno de los grandes magnates de las inversiones a quien admira: Gordon Gekko (Michael Douglas). En la celebración de su cumpleaños le regala una caja de habanos cubanos y le revela información clasificada que hará subir las acciones de la compañía aérea donde trabaja su padre. Gekko decide contratarle como agente, por su persistencia y para aprovecharse de sus contactos, y así conseguir información clasificada de otros inversionistas. Bud descubre que su admirado Gordon Gekko es un hombre sin escrúpulos, al que únicamente le importa el dinero y que sería capaz de hacer todo lo posible para conseguir sus objetivos; tras aparentemente convencerle para que compre la aerolínea, descubre que el verdadero plan de Gekko es dividir la compañía y venderla para llevarse un beneficio inmediato, aun a costa de dejar a los empleados en la calle. Tras sacar a la luz el engaño ante los sindicatos de la aerolínea, organiza una campaña de especulación financiera para hundir las acciones de la compañía y forzar a Gekko a venderlas, logrando así que uno de sus rivales (Sir Lawrence Wildman) compre la compañía a bajo costo y la salve de la quiebra.
