La Bête Humaine (English: The Human Beast and Judas Was a Woman) is a 1938 French film directed by Jean Renoir, with cinematography by Curt Courant. The picture features Jean Gabin, and is loosely based on the novel of the same name by Émile Zola.   The drama is partially set "on a train that may be thought of as one of the main characters in the film.   The story centers on a train engineer Jacques Lantier (Jean Gabin) who lusts after Séverine Roubaud (Simone Simon), the wife of his co-worker Roubaud (Fernand Ledoux).   Roubaud discovers that his young wife, Séverine, has been seduced by her godfather, the wealthy Grandmorin. Jealous, Roubaud forces Séverine to assist in the murder of Grandmorin during a train journey. The murder is witnessed by a railway worker, Jacques Lantier, but he keeps quiet because he is in love with Séverine. Disgusted by what her husband has done, Séverine has an affair with Lantier and pleads with him to kill her cruel husband. Le Déjeuner sur l'herbe est un film français réalisé par Jean Renoir, sorti en 1959.   Le professeur Étienne Alexis est un fringant biologiste, apôtre de la fécondation artificielle grâce à laquelle il veut améliorer la race humaine. Un projet de mariage arrangé avec une responsable allemande de mouvements de jeunesse doit propulser sa candidature à la présidence de l'Europe. Seulement, au cours d’un pique-nique en pleine nature, il fait la connaissance de Nénette, une fille de la campagne, qui se met à sa disposition comme sujet d'expériences puisque, justement, elle n'est pas tellement portée sur les hommes. Nuestra Señora de París (Notre-Dame de Paris, en francés) es una novela de Victor Hugo, escrita en 1831 y compuesta por once libros que se centra en la desdichada historia de Esmeralda —una gitana— , Quasimodo —un jorobado sordo— , y Claude Frollo —un archidiácono— en el París del siglo XV. Todos sus elementos —ambientación renacentista, amores imposibles, personajes marginados, final trágico— hacen de la obra un modelo de los temas literarios del Romanticismo francés. Victor Hugo, tras separarse de su mujer Adèle en 1830, fue testigo de las apreciaciones negativas de sus contemporáneos respecto del Arte gótico de la ciudad de París, donde se promovían (y ejecutaban) demoliciones de edificios y fachadas de la época medieval. Casque d’or est un film dramatique français réalisé par Jacques Becker, sorti en 1952. Il est inspiré de l’histoire vraie d’Amélie Élie, surnommée « Casque d’or ».   Du coup de foudre à l'échafaud, Casque d'or est une tragédie de la Belle Époque à la beauté mélancolique. Zazie in the Metro (original French title: Zazie dans le Métro, sometimes called Zazie) is a 1960 French film directed by Louis Malle, based on the novel by Raymond Queneau. Provincial 10-year old Zazie stays in Paris with her Uncle Gabriel (a female impersonator) for two days, while her mother spends some time with her lover. Zazie manages to evade her uncle's custody, however, and, métro strike notwithstanding, sets out to explore the city on her own. Les Amants es una película francesa de tipo dramático y psicológico, del año 1958, dirigida por Louis Malle, y con Jeanne Moreau en el rol principal.   Jeanne Tournier, de 30 años, se aburre en su lujoso hogar de Dijon. Lacombe Lucien (in English, Lacombe, Lucien) is a 1974 French war drama film about a French teenage boy during the German occupation of France in World War II. It is based in part on director Louis Malle's own experiences.   In 1944 Lucien Lacombe, a 17-year-old peasant living in the Lot region of south-western France, is rejected by the French Resistance. Pro-German collaborators obtain information from him about a resistance leader and recruit him into the "Milice Francaise", a fascist group that hunts down Resistance fighters.     Lacombe enjoys his new power and position, but falls in love with France Horn. She is a French-born Jewish girl who lives in seclusion with her father, Albert, a tailor, and her paternal grandmother, Bella, who live in fear of deportation. Forcing himself upon the girl, Lacombe becomes protective of those very people targeted by his superiors.   The events take place in June 1944 during the Normandy landing by the Allies. Lucien, while protecting France to the end, knows that he is aligned with the wrong side, for which he will pay with his life. Le Dîner de Cons (English: "Dinner of Fools"[2]), also known as The Dinner Game in the United States, is a 1998 French comedy film written and directed by Francis Veber. It is a film adaptation by Veber of his play Le Dîner de Cons.   Pierre Brochant, a Parisian publisher, attends a weekly "idiots' dinner", where guests, who are modish, prominent Parisian businessmen, must bring along an "idiot" who the other guests can ridicule. At the end of the dinner, the evening's "champion idiot" is selected.   With the help of an "idiot scout", Brochant manages to find a "gem", François Pignon, a sprightly employee of the Finance Ministry (which Brochant, a tax cheat, loathes) that has a passion for building replicas of landmarks with matchsticks. Shortly after inviting Pignon to his home, Brochant is suddenly stricken with dorsalgia while playing golf at his exclusive country club.   His wife, Christine, leaves him shortly before Pignon arrives at his apartment, as she realizes that he still wants to go to the "idiots' dinner."
