The Thin Blue Line es un documental estadounidense de 1988 escrito y dirigido por Errol Morris. El documental narra la historia de Randall Dale Adams, un hombre que fue condenado a la pena de muerte por un homicidio que no cometió. Debido a la repercusión del filme, el caso fue posteriormente revisado y la evidencia probatoria condujo a que Adams fuese puesto en libertad. El 29 de noviembre de 1976, en Dallas (Texas), el policía Robert Wood fue asesinado tras hacer parar a un automóvil. Cuando el oficial se acercó a la ventana del conductor de un carro que acababa de detener, le dispararon múltiples veces, lo que condujo a su muerte.   Durante semanas el departamento de policía de Dallas no pudo encontrar pistas sobre la identidad del asesino. Little Caesar is a 1931 Warner Bros. Pre-Code crime film that tells the story of a hoodlum who ascends the ranks of organized crime until he reaches its upper echelons. Directed by Mervyn LeRoy and starring Edward G. Robinson and Douglas Fairbanks, Jr., the story was adapted by Francis Edward Faragoh, Robert N. Lee, Robert Lord and Darryl F. Zanuck (uncredited) from the novel of the same name by William R. Burnett. Little Caesar was Robinson's breakthrough role and immediately made him a major film star. Small-time criminals Caesar Enrico "Rico" Bandello (Edward G. Robinson) and his friend Joe Massara (Douglas Fairbanks, Jr.) move to Chicago to seek their fortunes. Rico joins the gang of Sam Vettori (Stanley Fields), while Joe wants to be a dancer. Olga (Glenda Farrell) becomes his dance partner and girlfriend.   Joe tries to drift away from the gang and its activities, but Rico makes him participate in the robbery of the nightclub where he works. Despite orders from underworld overlord "Big Boy" (Sidney Blackmer) to all his men to avoid bloodshed, Rico guns down crusading crime commissioner Alvin McClure during the robbery, with Joe as an aghast witness.   Rico accuses Sam of becoming soft and seizes control of his organization. Rival boss "Little Arnie" Storch (Maurice Black) tries to have Rico killed, but Rico is only grazed. He and his gunmen pay Little Arnie a visit, after which Arnie hastily departs for Detroit. Koyaanisqatsi (English pronunciation: /koʊjɑːnɪsˈkɑːtsiː/), also known as Koyaanisqatsi: Life Out of Balance, is a 1982 American documentary film directed by Godfrey Reggio with music composed by Philip Glass and cinematography by Ron Fricke.   The film consists primarily of slow motion and time-lapse footage of cities and many natural landscapes across the United States. The visual tone poem contains neither dialogue nor a vocalized narration: its tone is set by the juxtaposition of images and music.    The first image in the film is of the Great Gallery pictograph in Horseshoe Canyon (Utah), in Canyonlands National Park. The section shown depicts several tall, shadowed figures standing near a taller figure adorned with a crown. The next image is a close-up of a Saturn V rocket during its launch. The film fades into a shot of a desolate desert landscape. From there, it progresses to footage of various natural phenomena such as waves and clouds.   The film's introduction to human involvement in the environment is a low aerial shot of choppy water, cutting to a similar shot of rows of cultivated flowers. After aerial views of monumental rock formations partly drowned by the artificial Lake Powell, we see a large mining truck causing billows of black dust. This is followed by shots of power lines in the desert. Man's continued involvement in the environment is depicted through images of mining operations, oil fields, the Navajo Generating Station, the Glen Canyon Dam, and atomic bomb detonations in a desert. Following the atomic bomb detonations, the next sequence begins with a shot of sunbathers on a beach, then pans to the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station in the background. Shots of traffic patterns are seen during rush hour on a freeway and a shot of a large parking lot. This is followed with stock footage of Soviet tanks lined up in rows and a military aircraft, and an aircraft carrier.   Time-lapse photography of shadows of clouds are seen moving across the skyscrapers. Shots of various housing projects in disrepair, and includes footage of the decay and demolition of the Pruitt-Igoe housing project in St. Louis. The sequence ends with footage of the destruction of large buildings. A time-lapse shot of a crowd of people who appear to be waiting in a line. Stand and Deliver is a 1988 American drama film based on the true story of high school math teacher Jaime Escalante. Edward James Olmos portrayed Escalante in the film and received a nomination for Best Actor at the 61st Academy Awards. The film was added to the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress in 2011. Jaime Escalante becomes a math teacher at James A. Garfield High School in Eastern Los Angeles and seeks to change the school culture to help the students excel in academics. He soon realizes the untapped potential of his class and sets a goal of having the students taking AP Calculus by their senior year. The students begin taking summer classes in advanced mathematics with Escalante having to withstand the cynicism of other faculty, who feel the students are not capable enough. As the students struggle with the lower expectations they face in society, Escalante helps them overcome the adversity and pass the AP Calculus exams. To his dismay, the Educational Testing Service questions the success of the students, insisting there is too much overlap in their errors and suggests the students cheated. Escalante defends his students, feeling that the allegations are based more on racial and economic perceptions. He offers to have the students retake the test months later and the students succeed in passing the test again despite only having a day to prepare, dispelling the concerns of cheating. Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1954), is a musical film, photographed in Ansco Color in the CinemaScope format. The film was directed by Stanley Donen, with music by Saul Chaplin and Gene de Paul and lyrics by Johnny Mercer, and choreography by Michael Kidd. The screenplay, by Albert Hackett, Frances Goodrich, and Dorothy Kingsley, is based on the short story "The Sobbin' Women", by Stephen Vincent Benét, which was based in turn on the Ancient Roman legend of The Rape of the Sabine Women. Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, which is set in Oregon in 1850, is particularly known for Kidd's unusual choreography, which makes dance numbers out of such mundane frontier pursuits as chopping wood and raising a barn. Film critic Stephanie Zacharek has called the barn-raising sequence in Seven Brides "one of the most rousing dance numbers ever put on screen. A backwoodsman named Adam Pontipee comes into town to search for a bride. After being laughed at by the owners of the town's feedlot store he goes out in search of a wife. He comes upon the local tavern where he meets Milly. He and Milly agree to marry despite knowing each other for only a few hours. On the journey home Milly talks about how she is excited to be cooking and taking care of only one man, visibly upsetting Adam. On returning to his cabin in the mountains, Milly is surprised to learn that Adam is one of seven brothers living under the same roof. The brothers have been named alphabetically from the Old Testament and in chronological order are: Adam, Benjamin, Caleb, Daniel, Ephraim, Frank (short for Frankincense, the Old Testament having no names beginning with F), and Gideon. All of the brothers have red hair and are well over six feet tall, except Gideon, who is younger and shorter than his brothers.   Milly teaches Adam's rowdy, ill-behaved younger brothers manners and social mores. She also shows them how to dance. At first, the brothers have a hard time changing from their "mountain man" ways, but eventually each comes to see that the only way he will get a woman of his own is to do things Milly's way. They are able to test their new manners at a barn-raising, where they meet six women they like — Dorcas, Ruth, Martha, Liza, Sarah and Alice — and the women take a fancy to the brothers as well. The women, however, already have suitors from the town, who jealously taunt the brothers into fighting during the barn-raising. At first the brothers try to resist and remember Milly's teaching, but Adam refuses to let himself be pushed around by the rival suitors, and calls his younger brothers cowards for letting them get away with their behavior. The rival suitors finally go too far when they attack Adam, which provokes Gideon into fighting back. A fierce brawl ensues in which the brothers dominate their physically weaker rivals. La misma está basada en la novela semi-autobiográfica de Marguerite Duras, la película muestra un amor ilícito en la Indochina francesa durante 1929, entre una adolescente francesa y un rico hombre chino.   En el guion de la película escrito por Annaud y Gérard Brach, la edad de la mujer es modificada de 14 y 1/2 a 18 años de edad, el personaje es representado por la actriz Jane March, quien cumplió 18 años al breve tiempo después de haber comenzado el rodaje.   La producción comenzó en 1989, mientras que la filmación recién comenzó en 1991. L.627 est un film français réalisé par Bertrand Tavernier, sorti en 1992. Coécrit par un ancien policier, Michel Alexandre, il dépeint le quotidien de la brigade des stupéfiants de Paris. Le titre du film « L.627 » fait référence à l'ancien article du Code de la santé publique français, qui prohibe la consommation ainsi que le trafic de stupéfiants. Il symbolise le décalage entre les moyens prévus par la loi et ceux effectivement mis à disposition de la police. Lucien Marguet, surnommé « Lulu », est un enquêteur de deuxième classe de la police judiciaire. C'est un policier de terrain, passionné par son travail quitte à y sacrifier parfois sa vie de famille. À la suite d'une altercation avec son supérieur qu'il considère incompétent, il est changé de brigade. Mais il intègre rapidement un groupe qui lutte contre le trafic de stupéfiants.   Depredador es una película estadounidense de 1987, dirigida por John McTiernan. Protagonizada por Arnold Schwarzenegger, Carl Weathers, Jesse Ventura, Kevin Peter Hall, Elpidia Carrillo, Bill Duke y Sonny Landham en los papeles principales y guionizada por Jim Thomas y John Thomas.   La película narra la historia de una fuerza de élite que emprende una misión para rescatar un rehén de una guerrilla ubicada en América Central. Mientras realizan la misión serán a su vez acechados por un cazador extraterrestre..   Galardonada con el Premio Saturno 1988 : a la mejor música (Alan Silvestri). Con el premio BMI-Música 1988 (Alan Silvestri); y el premio Golden Reel 1988 de Motion Picture Sound Editors: al mejor montaje y efectos de sonido (Richard Shorr).   El éxito de esta primera película, propició la realización de una secuela titulada Depredador 2 estrenada en 1990, tiempo después se volverían a realizar películas sobre el personaje Predator junto con el de la saga Alien, tituladas Alien vs. Depredador (2004) y Alien vs. Depredador 2 (2007).
