Sinopsis Escudo de la Familia Van Garrett. Año 1799. A couple of high school grads spend one final night cruising the strip with their buddies before they go off to college. Director: George Lucas Writers: George Lucas, Gloria Katz. Plot In early September 1962 in Modesto, California, on the last evening of summer vacation, recent high school graduates and longtime friends, Curt Henderson and Steve Bolander, meet John Milner, the drag-racing king of the town, and Terry "The Toad" Fields in the parking lot of the local Mel's Drive-In diner. Curt and Steve are scheduled to travel the next morning to the Northeastern United States to start college. Despite receiving a $2,000 scholarship from the local Moose Lodge, Curt has second thoughts about leaving Modesto. Steve gives Toad his 1958 Chevrolet Impala to watch while he's away at college until he returns at Christmas. Steve's girlfriend, Laurie, who is also Curt's sister, arrives in her car. Steve suggests to Laurie, who is already glum about him going to college, that they see other people while he is away in order to "strengthen" their relationship. Though not openly upset, she is displeased with his proposal which affects their interactions the rest of the evening. Curt accompanies Steve, last year's high school student class president, and Laurie, the current head cheerleader, to the back-to-high-school sock hop. In one story line, Curt is desperate to find a beautiful blonde girl driving a white 1956 Ford Thunderbird that he sees en route to the dance: at a stoplight, she appears to say "I love you" before disappearing around the corner. After leaving the hop, Curt is coerced by a group of greasers ("The Pharaohs") to participate in an initiation rite that involves hooking a chain to a police car and ripping out its back axle. The Pharaohs tell Curt that "The Blonde" is a trophy wife or prostitute, but he refuses to believe either. Determined to get a message to the blonde girl, Curt drives to the local radio station to ask DJ Wolfman Jack, who is omnipresent on the car radios, to announce a message for the blonde girl. Inside the radio station, Curt encounters a bearded man who tells him that the voice of The Wolfman is pre-taped from afar. The man still accepts the message from Curt to see what he could do. As he is leaving the station, Curt sees the man talking into the microphone and hears the voice of The Wolfman, and realizes the man is the actual DJ himself. Sure enough, The Wolfman eventually reads the message on the radio for "The Blonde" to meet Curt or call him at a number which happens to be a telephone booth. Curt waits by the telephone booth and early the next morning, he is awakened by the phone ringing. It turns out to be "The Blonde" who says she knows him and maybe she would see him cruising the coming night. A captured French Resistance fighter during WWII engineers a daunting escape from a Nazi prison in France. Director: Robert Bresson Writers: André Devigny (memoir), Robert Bresson (scenario). Stars: François Leterrier, Charles Le Clainche, Maurice Beerblock. Plot After the establishing shot of Montluc prison, but before the opening credits, the camera rests on a plaque commemorating the 7,000 prisoners who died at the hands of the Nazis. On the way to jail, Fontaine (François Leterrier), a member of the French Resistance, seizes an opportunity to escape his German captors when the car carrying him is forced to stop, but he is soon apprehended, beaten for his attempt, handcuffed and taken to the jail. At first he is incarcerated in a cell on the first floor of the prison, and he is able to talk to three French men who are exercising in the courtyard. The men obtain a safety pin for Fontaine, which gives him the ability to unlock his handcuffs. This turns out to be needless because he gives his parole to not escape and is moved to a cell on the top floor without handcuffs. Once in the new cell, Fontaine begins inspecting the door and discovers that the boards are joined together with low-quality wood. Using an iron spoon he deliberately neglects to return after a meal, he begins to chip away at the wood. After weeks of work, he is able to remove three boards from the door, roam the hallway, get back in his cell and restore the appearance of the door. Fontaine is not the only prisoner trying to escape. Orsini (Jacques Ertaud) makes an attempt, but fails to get very far because his rope breaks at the second wall. Orsini is tossed back in his cell, beaten up by the guards, and executed a few days later. Fontaine is not deterred from his plan. He makes hooks from the light fitting in his cell, fashions himself ropes from clothing and bedding and fastens the hooks to the rope with wires taken from his bed. A pesar de que Karl está sumamente institucionalizado, sus guardianes deciden que está en condiciones para reintegrarse a la sociedad. Antes de su liberación, es entrevistado por una reportera estudiantil, a quien le narra cómo mató a su madre y su novio con una espada káiser (también conocida en inglés como "kaiser blade" o "sling blade"). Karl le dice que él mató al hombre porque pensó que estaba violando a su madre. Pero cuando se dio cuenta de que su madre estaba teniendo un amorío, la mató también. La película ocupó el puesto 46 en la lista "Las 100 mejores películas del cine mundial" de la revista Empire en 2010.2​ La banda sonora de Georges Delerue fue nombrada como una de las "10 mejores bandas sonoras" por la revista Time en su lista "Las 100 películas de todos los tiempos". Argumento La historia se desarrolla antes, durante y después de la I Guerra Mundial tomando como personajes a dos amigos, uno austriaco y otro francés, Jules y Jim, quienes conocen a Catherine (Jeanne Moreau), una peculiar mujer de la cual ambos se enamoran. Casi famosos es una película del año 2000 escrita y dirigida por Cameron Crowe, mostrando la historia ficticia de William (Patrick Fugit), un reportero adolescente que se empeña en escribir sobre el mundo de la música desde dentro. Gracias a un encargo de la revista Rolling Stone podrá seguir la gira del grupo Stillwater, lo que le dará también la ocasión de enamorarse de una preciosa groupie de la banda, Penny Lane (Kate Hudson). Realidad y ficción El film es semi-autobiográfico, ya que Crowe sí escribió para la revista Rolling Stone siendo adolescente. La película se basa en las experiencias de viajar con bandas de rock como The Allman Brothers Band, Led Zeppelin, Eagles. En un artículo de "Rolling Stone", él habla acerca de como perdió su virginidad, se enamoró y conoció a sus héroes, experiencias que reflejó en William, el personaje principal de la película. Aunque los personajes son ficticios, el parecido físico entre el actor Billy Crudup y el guitarrista de The Allman Brothers Band, Dickey Betts es asombroso (basta con ver cualquier grabación de la banda de esa época), lo que confirma el hecho de que en la banda de rock sureño fue en la que más se insipiró Cameron Crowe a la hora de escribir el guion. The victims of an encephalitis epidemic many years ago have been catatonic ever since, but now a new drug offers the prospect of reviving them. Plot In 1969, Dr. Malcolm Sayer (Robin Williams) is a dedicated and caring physician at a local hospital in the New York City borough of The Bronx. After working extensively with the catatonic patients who survived the 1917–1928 epidemic of encephalitis lethargica, Sayer discovers certain stimuli will reach beyond the patients' respective catatonic states; actions such as catching a ball, hearing familiar music, and experiencing human touch all have unique effects on particular patients and offer a glimpse into their worlds. Leonard Lowe (Robert De Niro) proves elusive in this regard, but Sayer soon discovers that Leonard is able to communicate with him by using a Ouija board. After attending a lecture at a conference on the subject of the L-Dopa drug and its success with patients suffering from Parkinson's Disease, Sayer believes the drug may offer a breakthrough for his own group of patients. A trial run with Leonard yields astounding results: Leonard completely "awakens" from his catatonic state. This success inspires Sayer to ask for funding from donors so that all the catatonic patients can receive the L-Dopa medication and experience "awakenings" back to reality. Meanwhile, Leonard is adjusting to his new life and becomes romantically interested in Paula (Penelope Ann Miller), the daughter of another hospital patient. Leonard also begins to chafe at the restrictions placed upon him as a patient of the hospital, desiring the freedom to come and go as he pleases. He stirs up a revolt by arguing his case to Sayer and the hospital administration.
